Funeral service for Arlene M. Toft, 92, Story City, was held at 10:30 a.m. March 28 at Bethany Chapel, Story City. She died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Bethany Manor.

Memorials may be made to Bethany Life Foundation, Immanuel Lutheran Church or Homeward Hospice.

Soderstrum Funeral Home, Story City, was in charge of arrangements.

Arlene M. Toft was born May 21, 1920, in North English, the daughter of Arthur and Hazel (Martin) Lindsey. She graduated with a degree in teaching from Iowa State Teachers College, Cedar Falls. She taught school at Conroy and Collins.

She married George Toft April 17, 1949, at the Presbyterian Church in Mt. Vernon. The couple resided in Lytton until 1963 when they moved to Story City.

Toft is survived by two daughters, Carol and David Meldman, Mahtomedi, Minn., and Barbara Campbell, Wichita, Kan.; one son, David Toft, Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Erin and Nathan Blevins, Eric Campbell, Rachel Meldman, Rebecca Meldman and Jacob Meldman; one great-grandchild, Brooks Blevins; two nieces and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents and one daughter-in-law, Sharon Toft.
