Randall Goettsch, 56

Funeral service for Randall “Randy” Goettsch, 56, Maxwell, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at Bacon Funeral Home, Maxwell. He died Monday, Feb. 25, 2013, at Iowa River Hospice, Marshalltown.

Burial was at noon Monday, March 4, at Zion Cemetery north of Millersburg.

Memorials may be made to ALS Association or Iowa River Hospice.

Randall Goettsch was born Aug. 30, 1956, in Iowa City, the son of Carroll and Colleen (Klein) Goettsch.

He married Virginia Palmisano Sept. 22, 2012, in Maxwell. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for Local 234 Union, of which he was a member.

He enjoyed working in his shop, fishing, splitting firewood and snowmobiling. He was an avid NASCAR fan and liked restoring cars.

Goettsch is survived by his wife, Virginia; two sons, Christopher Goettsch, Zearing, and Zachary Goettsch, Jessup, Ga.; two daughters, Jessica and Bill McKusker, Marengo, and Bethany Dolph, Des Moines; one brother, Danny and Lorree Goettsch, Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Dona Venable, Hope Mills, N.C., and Diane Forrest, Ankeny; grandchildren, Makinzie, David, Cecilia and Faith Dolph, Mason McKusker, Rowyn Goettsch and Cassidy Clair; stepsons, Paul Drehs, Charlotte, N.C., and Davey and Rhapsody Drehs, St. Petersburg, Fla.; stepdaughter, Christina and Andy Stollmack, Indian Trail, N.C., and stetpgranddaughters, Stella Drehs and Peggy Jane Stollmack.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Logan Goettsch.
