Jean M. Van Ersvelde, age 90 of Brooklyn, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 at her home.

Funeral Services were held 10:30 A.M. Monday, February 11, 2013, Grace United Methodist Church, Brooklyn, with Rev. John Dodds officiating.

Burial was in Calvary Cemetery, Brooklyn.

Visitation was held 4 to 7 P.M. Sunday, February 10, 2013 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.

Jean Maxine White was born September 14, 1922 in rural Brooklyn, Iowa, the daughter of Almon and Julia Tesar White. She graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1940 and married Henry Van Ersvelde Jr. on September 10, 1945 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Brooklyn.

Jean was a wife, mother and homemaker. She liked to travel, fish, and read. She was very much at home on the farm, attending to the baby calves, gardening, and cooking. She enjoyed hosting Halloween parties for her children and friends, taking bus trips, playing cards and going to dances. She was also an avid Cubs fan, and in her free time she loved to oil paint.

Jean was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, BBB’s, and the Southside Community Club.

Jean is survived by her children, Susan Willett (Allan) of Victor, Barb Schwiebert (Jim) of Brooklyn, Henry Van Ersvelde III (Kathy Hauersperger) of Montezuma, and Lori Olson (Marc) of Brooklyn; ten grandchildren, Curt Willett (Angela Doty) of Brooklyn, Christopher Willett (Kandi) of Victor, Mark Willett (Jessica) of Anniston, AL, Brad Schwiebert (Caylon Mitchell and Treyton) of Ames, Jill Kilmartin (Donovan) of Houston, TX, Cassie Minnaert (Nate) of Brooklyn, Adam Snook (Heather) of Montezuma, Ivy Van Ersvelde (Andy Schuster) of Searsboro, Alyssa Kahl (Nate) of Slater, and Cole Olson of Brooklyn; and 16 great-grandchildren, Katie, Spencer, and Emma Willett, Bret, Nikki, and Jacob Doty, Preston and Derek Willett, Trevor and Dylan Willett, Karsyn, Karagyn, and Emersyn Minnaert, and Hunter Van Dee, Chloe and Emma Snook.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Henry Van Ersvelde, Jr., two sisters, Florence Williams, and Neva Johnson, and a brother John White.
