Louis E. Knapp, Sr., age 91, died Monday evening, February 20, 2006 at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo following a brief illness. Funeral Services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, February 23, 2006, St. John’s Lutheran Church with Rev. Douglas Morton officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call from 2 to 8 P.M. Wednesday, February 22, 2006 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by a son, Louis Knapp, Jr. and wife Marge; two daughters, Mary E. Becker and Betty Herman and husband Sonny, all of Marengo; Two brothers, Merle Knapp of Marion, and Earl Knapp of Walker; sixteen grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, several great-great grandchildren; and a very special friend, Wilma Moore of Marengo. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Rosey on May 31, 1990, a son Raymond, a grandson, Tom Knapp, his twin sister, Blanche, who died at birth; a brother Leonard and a sister, Florence, both at birth, and two granddaughters, Karen and Elizabeth Becker at birth.

Louis Edward Knapp was born September 24, 1914 in Prairieburg, Iowa, the son of Raymond and Elizabeth Kula Knapp. He was united in marriage to Rosey E. Schley on September 6, 1934 in Central City. Louis was a life-long farmer. He also worked at Iowa Steel in Cedar Rapids, the Marengo Sales Barn and for Solar Homes of Marengo. He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Marengo.
