Willis Miller, 79

Funeral Mass for Willis Miller, 79, Victor, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 22, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Victor. He died Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at his home.

The Rev. Brian Shepley officiated at the service.

Smith Funeral Home, Victor, was in charge of arrangements.

Willis Miller was born May 29, 1933, the son of Theodore and Daisy Force Miller, north of Brooklyn. He was raised in Hartwick and graduated from Hartwick High School.

He married JoAnn Wentland Nov. 29, 1952, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, Victor. The couple was blessed with 10 children.

He farmed near Victor and also worked with the Rohrer Brothers, Victor. After farming, he worked as a mechanic at Leo Kelly Company and later in construction. He enjoyed caring for his large yard and his dogs, Teddy and Tessa. He enjoyed collecting miniature International tractors that his grandchildren admired and once in a while would get to play with one. He loved his Pringles, Diet Pepsi and Snickers candy bars but most of all he loved his children and was always bragging about them.

Miller is survived by his children, Jane Rupp, Roseville, Calif.; David and Kathy Miller, Victor; Julie and Larry Grier, Guernsey; Mary Jo and John Patton, Michael Miller, Jeff Miller and Randy and Marilyn Miller, all Victor; Lori and Steve Slaymaker, Marengo; Katie and Jake Miller, Wellboro, Penn., and Tim Miller, Blairstown; 22 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one brother, Dean Miller, Bremerton, Wash., and two sisters, Betty and Wayne Klemmenson, Elberon, and Doris Henderson, Adel.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, JoAnn; his parents; one brother, Walter Miller, and one grandson, Todd Miller.
