Marlene Deatsch, 69

Celebration of life service for Marlene Deatsch, 69, Louisburg, Kan., formerly of North English and North Liberty, will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 10, at the Powell Funeral home and Cremation Service, North English. She died Saturday, Jan. 5, 2013, at Vintage Park, Louisburg.

Burial will be in the North English Cemetery.
A general memorial fund has been established.

Marlene Jean Deatsch was born May 14, 1943, near Deep River, the daughter of Leighton Arthur and Eva Ruth Grimm Worrall. She grew up in the North English community and graduated from English Valley High School in 1961.

She married James Deatsch in 1963. They were later divorced. She lived in the Iowa City area before moving to Kansas four years ago. She enjoyed scrapbooking, sewing, embroidery and quilting.

Deatsch is survived by her children, James and Cathy Deatsch, North Liberty; Paula Shull and Shane Feeney, North Liberty, and Kelly and Christiane Deatsch, Louisburg; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, Gary and Vera Worrall, Montezuma; sisters, Frances and Mike Thomas, Olathe, Kan., and Janice and Gary Semler, Keswick, and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant sister, Sandra.
