Janice Kay Edwards was born April 8, 1939, the daughter of John Frances Merritt and Dorothy L. (Allen) Slaymaker, at the home of her aunt Jeanie in Benton County. She graduated from Victor school in Iowa County.

She married Roy Gilbert Wiebold in 1956. He preceded her in death in April 1995.

In 2001, she married Ronald O. Edwards in Marengo. She devoted her life to her family. She enjoyed collecting and antiques. She also liked gardening, crafting, quilting, cooking and canning when she had a chance. She never passed up a local garage sale or the What Cheer flea market.

She enjoyed going to the Iowa County Fair, which she entered and won many exhibits throughout the year. She had a gift for being able to take something and make it look like it came from a department store window.

She was a member of the Iowa County Historical Society and Trinity Lutheran Church. In August 2009, she moved to Newton Village Retirement Center, Newton, to be near her daughter and son-in-law, Janelle and Dave Ohmstede. She later moved to Careage of Newton.

Edwards is survived by her daughters, Patricia Ann and Thomas McClure, Williamsburg, and Janelle Elaine and David Ohmstede, Newton; four grandchildren, Sara McClure, Vail, Colo.; Jonathan and Shanna McClure, Tiffin; Darren Ohmstede, Newton, and Dustin and Dani Ohmstede, Newton; great-grandchildren, Bryce and Adalynn; several brothers and sisters-in-law, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her first husband, she was preceded in death by her second husband, in 2007; her father, in 1976; her mother, in 2001; one sister, Kathleen Joyce Wiebold, in 2003; one brother-in-law, Dale E. Wiebold, in 1985, and two infant sisters, Mary Ann, in 1936, and Peggy Lou, in 1940.
