Funeral services for Carroll M. “Buck” McKusker, 91, Marengo, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, at First United Methodist Church, Marengo. He died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at his home.

Doug Dauenbaugh officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors.

Carroll Milan McKusker was born Jan. 24, 1921, in Deep River, the son of John Milo and Vera Jean Cooperider McKusker. He attended Honey Creek schools and graduated from Carson High School in 1938. He served in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1946, stationed in Berlin.

He married Fern Tuttle Feb. 10, 1947, at Lancaster, Mo. He farmed in the Marengo area for many years and also worked as an electrician.

In his free time he enjoyed camping and was also a coin collector.

He was a member of the Iowa County Historical Society, the Iowa River Good Sam Club, the Marengo Coffee Club, Marengo American Legion Post 76 and the Koszta United Methodist Church.

McKusker is survived by his children, Joann and Gayle Cuppy, Kalona; Jim and Donna, Burlington, Wis.; Julie and Dave Phillips, Marengo; Jeff and Lori, Mead, Colo., and Jerry, Marengo; 14 grandchildren, Steve and Jan Cuppy, Stacy and Mike Pfister, Brian and Jeanette Cuppy, Heather and Dustin Mohr, Kevin and Tommii McKusker, Cari and Stoney Kriegel, Karen McKusker, Krystal McKusker Richter and Pete, Valerie and Chak Ahtouche, Kyle McKusker, Jacob McKusker, Gabby and Stan Kovar, Karly McKusker and Jennifer McKusker; 13 great-grandchildren, Hannah, Cole and Rhet Pfister, Rebecca, Jacob and Ben Cuppy, Hailey and Kaitlyn Rohm, Dakota, Jayden and Brooklyn Mohr and Taytin and Amelia McKusker; his siblings, Ardis VanHamme, Brooklyn; Lois Dietrich, Marengo, and Bill McKusker, Marengo; sisters-in-law, Edna Shepherd, Williamsburg; Deloris Schmidt, Deep River, and one brother-in-law, Russell and Mary Tuttle, Malcom.

He was preceded in death by his wife, in 2009; his parents; one brother, Jack, and one sister, Noreen Miller.
