Roy Moser, 79

Funeral service for Roy R. Moser, 79, Amana, was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, at the Middle Amana Community Church. He died Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at his home.

Church elder Kristie Yoder officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Amana Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Roy Rudolph Moser was born Oct. 1, 1933, in Amana, the son of Rudolph George and Lina Schaedlich Moser. He graduated from Amana High School in 1951. He graduated from Iowa State University in 1955 with a degree in animal husbandry. He served in the U.S. Army for two years, from 1956 to 1958, stationed in Korea.

He married Helen Mae Sontag Oct. 17, 1959, at the Amana Church. He was employed for many years at the Amana Farms, retiring as manager. He currently delivered the Amana Society rumpost (Amana Society interoffice mail.)

He spent his time fishing, trapping, horseshoe pitching, woodworking and gardening. He also raised chinchillas. He was a member of the Amana Church Society, the Amana Society, of which he was a past board member, and the Adelante Fraternity. He was also past president of the Amana Welfare Association.

Moser is survived by his wife, Helen; two sons, Maury and Mary, Amana, and Galen and Linda, Marengo; three grandchildren, Tiffany and Drew Kinzenbaw, Urbana; Sarah Moser, Amana, and Tyler Moser, Marengo.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
