Mildred Trimpe, 87

Celebration of life services for Mildred D. Trimpe, 87, Williamsburg, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 20, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg. She died Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012, at Highland Ridge Care Center, Williamsburg.

The Rev. Carl Cloeter officiated at the service. Organist was Peggy Wardenburg. Selections included “A Mighty Fortress is Our God,” “What a Friend We Have in Jesus” and “Heaven Is My Home.”
Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Williamsburg. Casket bearers were Chris Trimpe, Eric Glessner, Tim Brazinsky, David Flint, Greg Helmers, Brent Range and Dave Periolat.

A memorial fund has been established for St. Paul Lutheran Church.

Mildred Dorothea Trimpe was born Nov. 16, 1924, in Deep River Township, Poweshiek County, the daughter of William J. and Maria Anna (Burke) Jahlas.

She married Paul George Trimpe April 26, 1943, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, rural Victor. They bought their farm west of Williamsburg in 1947 and lived and farmed there until 1960, when they moved into town.

She worked at Shellady’s Grocery for a number of years, the South Amana Bakery for four years and Amana Refrigeration as a second class inspector for 16 years, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Williamsburg, where she had been a member of the Women’s Guild, Altar Guild and Fellowship Club.

She enjoyed cooking, camping, quilting, sewing and spending time with her family.

Trimpe is survived by her husband of 69 years, Paul, Williamsburg; three children, Allen and Carol Trimpe, Shawnee, Kan.; Sharon and Warren Pillard, Keokuk, and Shirley and the Rev. Thomas Brazinksy, Baroda Mich.; seven grandchildren, Lisa and Dave Periolat, Chris Trimpe, Marci and David Flint, Stephanie and Brent Range, Carrie and Greg Helmers, Anne and Eric Glessner and Timothy Brazinsky; seven great-grandchildren, Jonah, Sydney, Portland, Emma, Thad, Lila and Olivia; one brother, LaVerne and Earlene Jahlas, Williamsburg, and two sisters, Marie Trimpe, her twin, Williamsburg, and Esther and Vernon Sandersfeld, Homestead.

She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers, Harold Jahlas, Raymond Jahlas and William H. Jahlas.
