Ellen Chittick, 94

A celebration of life memorial service for Ellen L. Chittick, 94, South English, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 25, at the Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North English. She died Saturday, Oct. 20, 2012, at the English Valley Care Center, North English.

Luke Caster officiated at the service.

Per her wishes she was cremated and burial was in the Piersol Cemetery near North English.

A memorial fund has been established for the English Valley Care Center and Iowa Hospice.

Ellen Lenore Chittick was born Oct. 21, 1917, in Iowa County, the daughter of Frank and Catherine Hayes Wade. She grew up in the Green Valley community near North English.

She married Everett E. Chittick Feb. 11, 1937, at the North English Methodist Church parsonage. The couple lived in Iowa and Keokuk counties, eventually moving to South English. Her husband died in December of 1997. She became a resident of the English Valley Care Center in July 2008.

Chittick is survived by 15 children, LaVonne Brawner, Arroyo Grande, Calif.; Donna Cross, Cedar Rapids; Rose and Jim Wilcox, Delta; Sanford Chittick, Williamsburg; Jack Chittick, Garrison; Marlene and John Frasher, Anamosa; Dale and Darlene Chittick, Williamsburg; Ruth and Mike Coulter, Oskaloosa; Stanley and Linda Chittick, Williamsburg; James Chittic, South English; Kay Trimpe, Williamsburg; Linda and Doug Martin, Sigourney; Robert Chittick, Williamsburg; Annette and Ed Yoder, Parnell; Dan and Tina Chittick, Sigourney; daughters-in-law, Maxine Chittick, South English, and Lisa Chittick, Ollie; 40 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Gary and Ronald; one grandson, Dustin Chittick; one brother, Carroll Wade; two sisters, Lucille Cobb and Lavon Wade; two sons-in-law, Garry Erie and John Brawner, and one daughter-in-law, Irmgard Chittick.
