Virginia E. Olds, 87, a resident of Davenport, died unexpectedly, Thursday, August 16, 2012 at Genesis Medical Center, East Rusholme, Davenport surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services and a Mass of Christian Burial for Virginia will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 20, 2012 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 417 Main Street, Davenport. Burial will take place in National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2:00 until 5:00 p.m. at the Halligan McCabe DeVries Funeral Home, downtown Davenport with a prayer service offered at 4:00 p.m.

Virginia Elizabeth Geis was born on April 1, 1925 in Victor, Iowa, a daughter of John and Blanche (Dusterhoft) Geis. She graduated from Mercy School of Nursing, Davenport.

Virginia was united in marriage to Jack Olds on June 25, 1949 in Victor, IA. He preceded her in death on March 23, 2007. They shared almost 58 years of marriage and memories together.

She was a registered nurse, and retired from the Pediatric Group in 1982.

Virginia's greatest joy in life was her family, and she would never miss an opportunity to spend time with them. She was a fan of the Iowa State Cyclones.

She was a member of St. Anthony's Parish, Mercy Hospital Alumni Group, and she spent many hours volunteering at Truman School for Handicapped Children.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital or Genesis Hospice.

She is survived by her daughters: Susan C. McKown, Denver, CO., Mary E. (Dan) Jennings, Long Grove, IA; sons, John C. (Denise) Olds, Decorah, IA., Thomas J. (Linda) Olds, Denver, CO., and Christopher J. (Lynn) Olds, Davenport; six beautiful granddaughters, Shelly (Chad) Hanson, Katelyn, Cassandra, Hannah, Sara, and Laura Olds; great-grandchildren: Landon and Bailey; and a sister: Caroline A. Geis, Victor, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by husband Jack and her parents. May they rest in peace.
