Funeral services for Nick B. Hanson, 42, West Des Moines, were held Saturday, Sept. 8, 2012, at Lutheran Church of Hope – Ankeny at the Station, Ankeny. He died Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, in Overland Park, Kan.

Burial was in the Rippey Cemetery, Rippey.

Memorials may be directed to the family.

Hamilton’s Funeral Home, Des Moines, was in charge of arrangements.

Nick Hanson was born May 17, 1970, the son of Melvin and Suzanne (Rice) Hanson.

He is survived by his children, Mason, Ivory and Garrett Hanson; his mother, Suzanne and Charles Schulte; his father, Melvin and Alice Hanson; one sister, Becky and Russell Giddings; a special friend and her daughter, Renee Batts and Alexis; nieces and nephews, Samantha Hanson, Nathan and Lauren Giddings, Kaelynn, Hannah, Alyssa, Dominic and Madlyn Schulte, and step-siblings, Jessica Chiavetta, Michele Hanson-Smith, Stephanie, Matthew, Justin and Joshua Schulte and Breona Swearinger.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Mary Johnson and Howard Rice; paternal grandparents, Bernard Hanson and Marcella Farr, and uncles, Butch Rice, Ronald Rice and Jeff Hanson.
