Mary Jacquelyn Hansel was born Feb. 26, 1918, in East River Township near Clarinda, the daughter of John Elmer and Golden Emma (Hurst) Clowser.

She married Clifford Hansel in Missouri. She had worked at Berry Seed Company, Clarinda. The couple moved to California during World War II, where she was employed in a day care. Following the war, the couple moved near Boise and later lived in Meridian, Idaho, for many years. She was a clerk at the Kernan Dime Store in Meridian and wrote the social sns business news for the area towns for the Statesman and Meridian Times. She moved to the English Valley Care Center, North English, within the last year.

She was fortunate not to have had her life cut short but the journey became arduous. The love of God, family and friends sustained her and made life’s experiences worthwhile.

Hansel is survived by three children, Sherry and Frank Hederer, Boise, Idaho; Ginger and Art Johnson, Williamsburg, and Hal Hansel, Carson, Wash.; seven grandchildren, Scott and Agi Hederer, Newport News, Va.; Paul and Nina Hederer, Germany; Shaun and Dana Johnson, Williamsburg; Cody and Laura Johnson, Saginaw, Mich.; Vicki and Steve Kuehn, Athens, West Va.; Cora and Auguste Zettler, Williston, Fla., and Ian Hansel, Cook, Wash., and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one sister, Virginia Murren, and two brothers, Willie and Star Clowser.
