Funeral services for Elizabeth A. “Betty” Parvin, 92, Amana, were held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 30, at the Middle Amana Community Church. She died Thursday, July 26, 2012, at Lakeview Village, Amana.

Church elder Mike Shoup officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Middle Amana Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Elizabeth Anne “Betty” Parvin was born July 21, 1920, in Middle Amana, the daughter of August and Susanna Graf Rettig. She graduated from Amana High School in 1938.

She married Frank N. Parvin Dec. 9, 1946, in Missouri. She was employed by the Amana Society in various capacities for over 62 years.

She was an avid quilter and a member of the Amana Sewing Club for over 50 years. She was a member of the Amana Church Society and the Amana Heritage Society.

Parvin is survived by her children, Karen and Ron Von Lienen, Marengo; Edward and Rita Parvin, Tipton; Clifford “Skip” and Jean Parvin and Susan and Duane Spidle, Peyton, Colo.; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 2005; her parents; one brother, Leonard Rettig; one grandson, Scott Von Lienen, and one great-grandson, Denver Parvin.
