Beverly Voss, 77

Celebration of life service for Beverly A. Voss, 77, Parnell, was held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at Powell Funeral Home, Williamsburg. She died Saturday, July 21, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

The Rev. Richard Meyer officiated at the service. Organist was Connie Von Ahsen. Musical selections were “The Old Rugged Cross” and “Amazing Grace.”

Burial was in the Oxford Cemetery. Casket bearers were Ashley Wetjen, Chance Wetjen, Jason Schweitzer, Tyler Voss, Jeffrey Voss, Jody Von Ahsen, Scott Voss, Avery Carter and Jon Voss.

Memorials may be made to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center.

Beverly Ann Voss was born Jan. 16, 1935, in Iowa City, the daughter of Jacob John and Pearl H. (Brumback) Schwab. She grew up in the Oxford area and lived in Cedar Rapids, Williamsburg and Parnell since 1965. She worked as a child care provider for almost 35 years, retiring in 2001.

She was formerly active with the Girl Scouts as a leader. She enjoyed being with family and spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed sewing, baking and doing crafts.

Voss is survived by her children, Robert and Debbie Voss, Fresno, Calif.; Debra Carter and Harold Hill Jr., Pinehurst, Texas; Cindy Schweitzer and Harold Handley Jr., Elberon; Nancy Alexander, Hiawtha; Pam and Bret Wetjen, Homestead; Jeff and Sharon Voss, Nolanville, Texas, and Jerry and Julie Voss, North English; 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters, Louine Dietze, Betty Jean Bragg, Hazel Livermore and Doris Folkers, and two brothers, Harry and Everett Schwab.
