Passing of Former Resident
Joseph McDougal died at his home in Villisca on Thursday, May 7, 1908. The funeral services were held at his home and the body was brought to Williamsburg for burial in the family lot in Oak Hill. It reached here on Friday night and on Saturday was tenderly laid away beside the remains of his daughter, Mrs. T. P. Jenkins, who died several years ago.
Joseph McDougal was born in Fulton County, N. Y., July 1, 1837. When a young man he moved to Wisconsin and when the Civil war called for men, he enlisted in the defense of his country in the Thirty-third Wisconsin infantry. Three years he served as a soldier and along in the early 80's he came to Williamsburg, which place continued to be his home for twelve years. Later he moved to Atlantic, Neb., and six years ago he located at Villisca, Iowa, where he resided till his death. He was twice married and is survived by a wife and several grown children.
