Memorial services for Kathryn L. “Kathy” Kahler, 52, Marengo, were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 2, at Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo. She died Tuesday, May 29, 2012, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, from complications of cancer.

A memorial fund has been established.

Kathryn Lee Kahler was born Dec. 11, 1959, in Marengo, the daughter of Richard Lee and Joanne Lee Kurtz Peters. She graduated from Iowa Valley High School in 1978.

She married Richard Kahler May 19, 1979, at Trinity United Church of Christ, rural Marengo. She was employed as an assembly person at Amana Refrigeration for 33 years.

She was an avid Hawkeye fan and also enjoyed working outdoors on flowers and landscaping. She loved her children and grandchildren and cherished her time with them.

Kahler is survived by her husband, Rick; two daughters and their husbands, Briana and Mike Schmidt, Williamsburg, and Abby and Sid Van Dee, Deep River; five grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Logan and Jonathan Schmidt and Kahler and Keyan Van Dee; her mother and her husband, Joanne and John Foley, Montour; two sisters and their husbands, Faye and Rick Jenkins, Des Moines, and Jeanne and Steve Kasal, Williamsburg; her mother-in-law, Gerry Kahler and husband Lee, Amana, and one sister-in-law, Robin Brecht and husband Doug, Blairstown.

She was preceded in death by her father, her grandparents and her father-in-law, Russell Kahler.
