Funeral services for Carroll W. Gorsch Sr., 81, Marengo, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. He died Wednesday, May 16, 2012, at his home.

The Rev. Katie Dawson officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Koszta Cemetery, rural Marengo.

Memorials may be made to Marengo Memorial Hospital or Marengo Senior Dining.

Carroll William Gorsch was born July 15, 1930, in Marengo, the son of William and Elsie “Pearl” Cooperider Gorsch. He attended the Iowa County schools and graduated from Marengo High School in 1947.

He married Marlene Catherine Bauler Jan. 6, 1951, at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Newhall. He was a life-long farmer. He was also employed at Kinze Manufacturing as a welder for over 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing but spent most of his time farming the land that he loved.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Farm Bureau.

Gorsch is survived by his wife, Marlene; three sons Carroll Jr. “Skip” and Harry, Marengo; Terry Gorsch, Hubbard and Denny Gorsch, Chelsea; nine grandchildren, and their spouses, Trevor and Sarah Gorsch, Tara Jo Gorsch and Alex DeVries, Kori Gorsch Beck and Cody, Kelly Gorsch and Justin Jenney, Kasie Gorsch, Dustin and Megan Gorsch, Dylan Gorsch-Soppe, Taylor Gorsch and Alicia Gorsch-Soppe; seven great-grandchildren, Autumn Gorsch, Hunter Gorsch, Jared Jenney, Kaleb Gorsch, Wyatt Beck, Madison Jenney and Megan Gorsch.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Gorsch.
