Charles R. Hunzelman, 83, Marengo, died Friday, May 4, 2012, at his nephew’s home near Mystic. His body has been cremated and a graveside memorial service will be held at a later date at the Genoa Bluff Cemetery, Marengo.

The Schmidt Family Funeral Home, Centerville, was in charge of arrangements.

Charles R. Hunzelman was born Feb. 6, 1929, in Marengo, the son of Ernest and Virla (Dietze) Hunzelman. He graduated from Marengo High School.

He married Ruth E. Begunck Dec. 5, 1954, in Marengo. He served his country during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged Dec. 12, 1952. He farmed in the Marengo area for many years.

Hunzelman is survived by his wife, Ruth; one son and his wife, Rory and Diana Hunzelman, Phoenix, Ariz.; two daughters and their husbands, Cynthia and Billy Luecht, Columbia, Mo., and Dana and Lyn Wagner, Marengo; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; also, a niece and nephew, Frank and Deb Ollinger, Mystic.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Marilyn Horne.
