Funeral services for Wilma J. Neuhaus, 84, Victor, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 17, at St. James Lutheran Church, Victor. She died Sunday, Feb. 13, 2011, at Brooklyn Community Estates.

The Rev. Michael Kolesar officiated at the service. Organist was Pam Cronbaugh and vocalists were Barbara and Teri Neuhaus. Casket bearers were her grandchildren, Michele Light, Matt Light, John Light, Niki Hakes, Carrie Neuhaus and Ryan Neuhaus.

Burial will be at a later date in Victor Memorial Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to St. James Lutheran Church.

Wilma Jean Neuhaus was born Aug. 19, 1926, in Guernsey, the daughter of William and Caroline Keller Burke. She was raised in Guernsey and graduated from Guernsey High School in 1944.

She married Herbert Neuhaus Jan. 6, 1946, at St. John’s Lutheran Church near Victor. The couple made their home in Victor and she was a homemaker and mother of four children. She was also a substitute mail carrier and worked as a bookkeeper for S.I.P. Lumber Company, Victor, for over 25 years.

She was a member of St. James Lutheran Church, Victor, and was active in the ladies aide of the church. She was also past treasurer of the women’s golf league, the Sweet Adelines, the Victor American Legion Auxiliary, Iowa County Historical Society and was a volunteer for the Victor Congregate Meals.

She enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing dominos, cheering on the Iowa Hawekeys and attending her grandchildren’s activities.

Neuhaus is survived by her children and their spouses, Linda and Michael Light, Des Moines; Larry and Teri Neuhaus, Hartwick; Lyle and Barbara Neuhaus, Victor, and Lynn Neuhuas, Victor; six grandchildren, Michele, Matt and John Light, Niki Hakes, Carrie and Ryan Neuhaus; one great-grandson, Marcus Light; one brother, Harlan Burke, Guernsey, and two sisters, Lucille Schultz, Stanwood, and Donnabelle Rinehart, Victor.

She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
