Charles F. Coleman, 82, Williamsburg, died peacefully with his family by his side Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at his home.

A private family service will be held at a later date. Deacon Dave Reha will officiate.

Burial will be in the Wellman Cemetery.

Memorials may be made for Camp Courageous or Iowa City Hospice.

Charles F. Coleman was born March 11, 1928, near Monti, in Delaware County, the son of James and Loretta (Duggan) Coleman. He graduated from Coggon High School and Cedar Rapids Business College.

He married Betty Adams Aug. 1, 1953, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids. The couple lived in Cedar Rapids before moving to Wellman in 1959.

He worked at Owens Brush and Oral B Laboratories, Iowa City, from 1959 to 1991, where he worked in the purchasing department.

He moved to Wiliamsburg in 2005. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was proud of his Irish heritage and he never knew a stranger.

Coleman is survived by five daughters and their husbands, Cindy and Kenny Hahn and Debbie and Rick Eckhoff, all Iowa City; Beth Coleman, Wellman; Amy and Bob Eakins, Keota, and Anne and Steve Mann, Wellman; 12 grandchildren, Neil, Adam, Jeremy, Mark, Megan, Carly, Jack, Alex, Danny, Tara, Seth and Drake; seven great-grandchildren, Madyn, Reese, Lyla, Hunter, Landry, Kaiya and Mariah; one sister and her husband, Betty and Gerald Dooley, Cedar Rapids, and two sisters-in-law, Bernadine Coleman, Cedar Rapids, and Roberta Coleman, Coggon.

He was preceded in death by his wife, in November of 1993; his parents; one son, Danny, in September of 1973, and five brothers, Dale, George, Vincent, John and Thomas.
