Alberta Joyce Geiger, 82, North English, died Friday, Dec. 10, 2010, at University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.

Alberta Joyce Geiger was born Jan. 23, 1928, in Perry, the daughter of Frank and Violet Caskey Bresee. She graduated from Perry High School in 1946 and attended AIB, Des Moines.

She married Lyle C. Geiger Dec. 17, 1949, at the First Christian Church, Des Moines. She was a licensed insurance agent with her husband at Geiger Insurance Agency from Sept. 1, 1977, until retiring Aug. 1, 1997.

She was a member of the North English Christian Church, a former trustee of the North English Library Board and a former member of the Eastern Star in Des Moines and Norwalk.

Geiger is survived by her husband; one daughter and her husband, Sheryl Ann and Monte Ball; one son, Bruce Evan Geiger, all West Des Moines; three grandchildren, Curtis Rogers and wife Danielle, Kristin Rogers and Andrew Boutott; two step-grandchildren, Katherine and Michael Ball; one great-granddaughter, Sidney Lynne Rogers, and two brothers and their wives, Floyd and Donna Bresee and Jim and Carmella Bresee.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Delores Weber.
