Funeral services for Robert E. “Bob” Grimm, 79, Marengo, were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 7, at Meadow Hill Christian Fellowship Church, Homestead. He died Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010, at the VA Medical Center, Iowa City.

Burial with military honors was in Hala Cemetery, Walford.

A memorial fund has been established.

Robert Estel Grimm was born Aug. 2, 1931, in Iowa County, the son of Ernest and Alice Allely Grimm. He graduated from Deep River High School in 1949 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict.

He married Mable M. Mouchka Jan. 25, 1958, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua. In earlier years, he worked as a custodian at the Amana Schools. He also worked at Rockwell Goss, Cedar Rapids; Amana Refrigeration and Amana Builders and most recently was a self-employed carpenter.

He was a member of Marengo American Legion Post 76.

Grimm is survived by one son, Dale Grimm, Marengo; one daughter, Cindy Grimm (Vicky), Marengo; two grandchildren, Andrew and Tony Grimm; three brothers and their wives, Charles and Sharon, Middle Amana; Richard and Pam, Wellman, and Dennis and Mary, Kalona, and three sisters and their husbands, Donna and Larry Schwartzendruber, Kremmling, Colo.; Connie and Mel Barthelman, Washington, and Shirley and John Helmuth, Kalona.

He was preceded in death by his wife and his parents.
