Funeral services for Barbara E. Brown, 83, Marengo, were held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 16, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. She died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City.

The Rev. Eddie Thomas officiated at the service.

Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, West Liberty.

A memorial fund has been established.

Barbara Estrellita Brown was born Oct. 30, 1929, in Sioux City, the daughter of Harry and Lucille Lemon Emmick. She attended Sioux City schools.

She married Albert “Biddle” Brown Nov. 1, 1946, in West Liberty. The couple moved to Marengo in 1986.

She was a loving homemaker, wife and mother. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary. She enjoyed camping, fishing and playing bingo. She also enjoyed bowling and kept the records and statistics for the league for over 50 years. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Brown is survived by one son, David Brown, and two daughters, Bonnie Martin and husband David, and Diane Brown, all Marengo; five grandchildren, Amy Labath, Jessica Martin, Wesley Brown, Zachariah Brown and Jennifer Gorsch; six great-grandchildren, Summer and Savanna Labath, John and Samuel Gorsch and Kayle and Ayden Brown, and several half-brothers and half-sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, in 1996; her parents and one grandson, John Martin.
