Williamsburgh Journal, Williamsburgh (Iowa Co.), Iowa, 5 Aug 1887, p2.

DIED:--July 30, 1887, EDMUND, son of John R. and Mary Evans, aged about 4 years.

Again has the hand of death entered this beautiful home and claimed as its mark one of the brighest and best.

Two hands upon the little breast,
And life's labor's done;
Two bright eyes closed to rest,
And a short race is run.

Sunday evening as the sun was passing down the western slope, friends and sympathizing neighbors gathered at the cemetery and mingled their tears with the heartbroken parents over the bier of this their second son that has passed the portals of life within the last ten days. Their loss is incalculable and their grief so intense that it can not be measured by words, nor wholly assuaged by human sympathy however sincere.

Edmund was an interesting child, idolized by fond parents, so that one, aye two, of the brightest lights have gone from the home. The short life was very precious and the memory and fragrance of it will live in the hearts of parents and friends until the happy and glorious reunion with those gone before. For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. Glorious consumation of friendships began on earth, a union made perfect where there shall be no more sorrow, pain nor death.
