Obituary.

ROBERTS: Sept. 1 1905, the beloved brother and friend, David M. Roberts, fell asleep in death. He was born in the year 1824 in a farm house called Ffriddlwyd, Talsarna, county of Merioneth, North Wales. His fathers name was Richard Roberts a farmer very highly respected in that neighborhood. When Mr. Roberts had reached his manhood, he left his father's farm, and went to work at the stat quarries at Testiniog [sic] in the same county. When there he fell in love with Miss Ellen Thomas, Brynteg near Tremadog, whom he married, and who was to him a beloved companion until she fell asleep in the Lord two years last April. Mr. and Mrs. Roberts came to this county in 1869 and to Williamsburg their future home. They bought a farm about 5 miles north west of town where they carried on farming with good success. About 13 years ago they rented the farm to one of their sons and came to live in town where Mrs. Roberts died. After her death he went to spend the remainder of his life at the pleasant home of his daughter Mrs. Richards.
There were born to Mr. and Mrs. Roberts eleven children, six of whom survive, Richard, Mrs. Jane Jones, New Cambria, Mo., Mrs. Richards, David, William and Samuel all live in the neighborhood of Williamsburg.
In the death of Mr. Roberts the Congregational church has lost a brother beloved, and one that has been a faithful member for a great many years. The great multitude that assembled to pay its last tribute of respect to his mortal remains proved that he stood high in the estimation of the public at large. His health was not of the best for several months and yet he was very strong considering his advanced age. The last sickness was short and death came very unexpectedly.
The funeral on Monday at 1 p.m. was conducted at the house and in the church and at the cemetery by Rev. D. M. George assisted by Rev. Mr. Davis, T. C. church.
