Matthew White Dies Suddenly At Home Friday

From Ireland He Came In 1910 To Uncle's Farm

Matthew White died suddenly at his farm home near South Amana Friday. He had been in failing health for the past several years.

Born in Whitegate, County Galway (now Clare) Ireland, March 30, 1882, Matthew White came to America in March, 1910, coming direct to the home of his uncle, Peter White, near South Amana. He has since continued to make his home there. A severe illness in the fall of 1929 left him in less rugged health, although he as able to take part in less strenuous activities.

He never married, but is survived by two sisters and one brother, Michael, in Ireland, and by two brothers, Peter J. and Andrew of this locality.

He was a life long member of the Catholic church and was ever faithful in his religion and his work.

Funeral services were held at St. Mary's church in Williamsburg at nine o'clock Monday morning with the Rev. Thomas O'Dowd reading the Requiem Mass and the choir singing the responses. Pall bearers were Dr. J. C. McCabe, Fergus Flanagan, Alec Moynihan, Thomas Hannon, Elmer Jacobs and Hjalmer Helgeson. Burial was made in St. Mary's cemetery.
