Memorial services for LaVerne Aubrecht, 78, Tiffin, were held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Grace United Methodist Church, Tiffin. She died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Lantern Park Nursing and Rehab Center, Coralville.

Burial was in Oak Hill Cemetery, Tiffin.

Memorials may be made to Grace United Methodist Church, Iowa City Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choice. Gay and Ciha Funeral and Cremation Services was in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at www.gayandciha.com.

E. LaVerne Aubrecht was born May 17, 1932, in Tiffin, the daughter of DeWayne and Donna (Oakes) Slade. She graduated from Tiffin High School in 1950.

She married Robert J. “Bob” Aubrecht Jan. 22, 1950, in Tiffin. The couple and their family made their home in Coralville for many years before the couple moved to Tiffin in 1996.

She was an active member of Grace United Methodist Church, Tiffin; the North Liberty Saddle Club, was active in Johnson County 4-H and enjoyed the outdoors with her family, camping and fishing.

She had worked a short time for the University of Iowa and she and her husband owned and operated Wool and Wear for a number of years but she was most proud of being a wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Her family was a lifetime of love for her.

Aubrecht is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Benny Rios, North Liberty, and Marcia Dolezal and Mike Gatto, Cedar Rapids; three sons and their wives, Terry Aubrecht, Tiffin; Tom and Michelle Aubrecht, Iowa City, and Tim Aubrecht and Cindy Elmer, Rockford, Ill.; 11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Donna Dietrich and husband Darren, Cedar Rapids, and Reta Bream, Oxford, and one sister-in-law, Vickie Slade, Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, one son, James; one brother, Vernon Slade, and one brother-in-law, Bill Bream.
