Seymour Farmer Stricken While at Work in Field

Watson Beatty, 62 year old farmer living north of Seymour (Iowa), died enroute to the Davis County Hospital in Bloomfield Monday.

Mr. Beatty had been working in the field on a tractor when he became ill and was taken to the hospital at Bloomfield where his daughter, Ileen, is a nurse. He was a prominent citizen of Seymour and well known in the county. He was a member of the Wayne County Extension Council Committee and a leader in church and civic affairs.

He is survived by his wife, two daughters, Ileen of Seymour and Mrs. Darrell Jordon of Gibson City, Ill.; also three sons, Ronald of Seymour, Robert of Humeston, Jim of Cedar Rapids and Steve of Martinez, California; also his mother of Bloomington, Ill.

Funeral services will be held from the Methodist Church in Seymour at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, with burial in his old home town of Clearfield.
