Services Held Today for Veva Sanders, 58

Veva Sanders, 58, died about 9:10am Monday, July 21, 1969, at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, following a three weeks illness in the hospital. She had undergone major surgery Friday when both legs were amputated.

Services for Mrs. Sanders will be held today, Thursday, at 1:30 pm at the Marengo United Methodist Church with the Rev. Sherwood Roser, Presbyterian Church of Williamsburg, officiating. Burial will be in the Pilot Cemetery.

Mrs. Dean Rodgers, organist, will provide two selections, “In the Garden” and “Rock of Ages.”

Casket bearers are Keith Disterhoft, Marengo; Robert O. Bell, Iowa City; David and Jan Yearian, Des Moines; Garth Livingston, Williamsburg, and William Leavengood, Knoxville. Caring for the flowers are Mrs. R.V. Simmons, Mrs. George Peterson and Mrs. Ruby Fatland. Harrison funeral home is in charge of arrangements.

Veva Alice Sanders was born in Iowa County, the daughter of Dave and Mary Yearian. She married Lamon Sanders in Marengo Aug. 12, 1934. He died in 1956.

She has worked for the last seven years as a cook for the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Up until 1962 she had always made her home in Marengo. She was a member of the Marengo Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include one son, Charles L. Sanders, Williamsburg; her mother, Mrs. Mary [Rest of obituary is missing]
