Celebration of life services for Robert J. Wiebold, 78, Marengo, were held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Williamsburg. He died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics, Iowa City.

The Rev. Kirk Statler officiated at the service. Organist was Karin Winwood. Congregational hymns were “Just As I Am” and “On Eagles’ Wings.”

Burial was in Yankee Point Cemetery with military rites. Urn bearers were Dustin Wiebold and Mike Brummel.

Robert J. Wiebold was born Feb. 20, 1932, near Williamsburg, the son of Arnold and Esther Johanna (Schwarting) Wiebold. He attended Hilton Consolidated School, Conroy.

He married Jeanette H. Stumpff Dec. 26, 1953, in Conroy. He was a lifelong farmer and truck driver. The couple enjoyed driving around the countryside to check on crops and collecting toy tractors.

Wiebold is survived by his wife; two sons and their wives, David and Deb Wiebold and Duane and Margie Wiebold, all Parnell; one daughter, Debbie and Denny Whitaker, Grinnell; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one brother and his wife, Dick and Evelyn Wiebold, Conroy.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Joshua, in 1990; one son, Dennis, in 1997, and two brothers, Ralph and Earl.
