T. M. Lillis, 87, Buried Thursday, Born Near Marengo

Funeral services for Thomas M. Lillis, Sr., 87, who died suddenly Tuesday morning of last week, were held Thursday forenoon at St. Mary's Catholic church, with Rev. J. J. Gaule officiating. Music for the service was provided by the church choir. Pallbearers were Glenn Hanson, Cyril Kelly, Wilfred, Joe and John Lillis, William Keegan. Burial was in the church cemetery. Acolytes were Charles and Gary Lillis, grandsons, and Terry and Steve Lillis, grand-nephews.
Son of John and Mastaica (sic) Franey Lillis, he was born near Marengo, Dec. 11, 1877. He spent his entire life in Iowa county. He was engaged in farming for many years and later was a livestock dealer. He was a lifetime member of the Catholic church and of the Knights of Columbus.
He was married to Nellie Morrin Feb. 27, 1906. She preceded him in death in 1959.
Surviving are three children: Mrs. William J. Cash, Thomas W. Lillis, Jr., and Margaret Lillis, all of Williamsburg; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. John F. Kelly of North English.
Friends and relatives attending the funeral were from Marengo, Parnell, North English, Holbook, Cedar Rapids, Iowa City, Independence, Belle Plaine, Letts, and Davenport.
