Celebration of life memorial services for Donald D. Popham, 63, North English, were held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at Powell Funeral Home and Cremation Service, North English. He died at Marengo Memorial Hospital Thursday, Sept. 23, 2010. The Rev. Michelle Williamson officiated at the service. Burial of ashes with military rights was in the Champion Hill Cemetery near North English.

Donald Dean Popham was born Nov. 11, 1946, in Sigourney, the son of Daryl G. and Opal F. Denison Popham. He lived most of his life in the North English community, graduating from English Valleys High School in 1965. He served in the US Army in Munich, Germany.

He married Marie Garringer June 8, 1968, in North English. They had three daughters.

He later married Ann Carter in October 1995 at Lake Iowa.

He worked as a mechanic at McKenna Ford before working 28 years at Amana Refrigeration. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, golfing, being on the computer and riding his motorcycle.

Popham is survived by his wife; twin daughters, Heather Stoner and husband Abe, Washington, and Hollie Myers, Keota; a daughter, Jennifer Marks and husband Wes, South English; stepchildren, Beth Carter and husband Andy McGuire, Brian Carter, Lloyd Carter and John Carter; 15 grandchildren; his mother, Opal Popham, North English; one sister and her husband, Linda and Carroll Vikel, Iowa City; a twin brother and his wife, Ronald and Helen Popham, Riverside, and Brent Popham, Kalona.

He was preceded in death by his father.
