OBITUARY

Died, at the home of his son, Detlef Klever, in Pilot Township, Iowa County, Oct. 4, 1897, at about 11:30 pm, Mr. Frederick Klever, aged 85 years, 10 months and 20 days.

Mr. Frederick Klever was born in Kiel, Holstein, Germany, November 14, 1811. He was united in marriage to Miss Catharine Brommer. They were blessed with nine children, seven boys and two girls. Three of them, two boys and a girl, went before him.

He joined the Lutheran church when but 15 years old and has been a true member ever since. He bore his sickness patiently and seemed to wait for God to call him home. He was sick about two weeks. He had been in good health for about 50 years. He refused all medical aid and said it would do him no good, nothing but death would cure him.

He has been a kind father and a good neighbor, and he was loved by all. He always seemed happy and contented and he will be greatly missed by all his children, grand-children and friends. He always had a smile and a bright face for all.

Jesus can make a dying bed
Feel soft as downy pillows are,
While on his breast he lent his head
And breathed his life out sweetly there.
That world of light
With joy so bright;
This is a world of woe.
Shall we grieve that his soul has taken flight?
Because we dwell below.
Then why do we weep?
There is a world above
Where parting is unknown.
Our dear grandpa is gone,
His happy spirit flies
To Jesus arms has flown.
And yet our hearts are in sorrow,
For our dear grandpa is gone.
A Friend
