_______
Born December 19, 1843
Died January 11, 1909
_______

Mrs. Klever, wife of Mr. Detlef, departed this life at her home in Williamsburg on January 11. The call was sudden and the news of her death was heard on all sides with deepest sorrow.

The funeral services were held on Wednesday on January 13 at Pilot grove church and were conducted by Rev. W. H. Dillon of the M.E. Church and were attended by a great throng of friends and old neighbors of the good woman who was universally loved and esteemed for the great and noble traits of character which ever marked her daily life.

Maria Margaretta Magdalena Vohs was born in Holstein, Germany in 1843. Her parents were strict adherents to the Lutheran faith and at the age of 14 years the daughter was confirmed and admitted to full membership in the faith of her fathers.

In 1860 she was married to Mr. Detleff Klever and for a few years the young couple resided in their native land. In 1868, they emigrated to America and located near Genoa Bluff and after a short residence here they moved to Pilot Grove, Pilot Township, which place continued to be their home until four years ago when they relinquished the cares and activities which the farm demanded and moved to Williamsburg where they enjoyed the comforts made possible by their years of faithful and persevering industry.

Seven children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Klever and of these; two are dead, thus leaving five children, and the father to mourn the death of a kind mother and faithful wife. The children remaining are John and Fred of Pilot, Christina at home, Mrs. Anna Slager of Pilot and Mrs. Dan Goodman of English.

Mrs. Klever was beloved by all her neighbors. Kind, charitable and God-fearing at all times and ever ready to aid and succor those in need. She lived the quiet unassuming life and kept her mind free from the annoyances and distractions that interferes with the happiness and peace of so many.

To the husband and children the sympathy of all is extended.
