Services Were Saturday for Mrs. O’Donnell, 65

Services for Melba (Mrs. Mark) O’Donnell, 65, Williamsburg, were held Saturday, July 19, at 10 am at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Williamsburg. The Rev. George Bachman celebrated the mass.

Mrs. O’Donnell died of cancer Thursday, July 17, 1980 at Mercy Hospital, Cedar Rapids, after an illness of eight months.

Irene (Mrs. Richard) Wetjen, organist, accompanied soloist Merwyn G> Jones as he sang, “My Tribute” and “The Lord Is My Shepherd.” Ushers were Harold E. Jones and Wesley Cranston.

Interment was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were: Robert J. Coulter, Vincent and Leo Driscoll, Edgar P. Uhlmann, Wilbert Mumm, a cousin, all Williamsburg, Richard Bergert, also a cousin, Belle Plaine.

Melba E. O’Donnell was born on a farm near Williamsburg, Aug. 24, 1914, the daughter of Albert and Maude Keil Kuch. She attended the local school and was a member of the 1932 graduating class of the Williamsburg high school. She also attended Grinnell College, Grinnell.

Her marriage to Mark O’Donnell took place Apr. 13, 1934 at Williamsburg with the late Rev. Thomas O’Dowd officiating. They lived in Williamsburg all their married life.

She was employed 25 years at the Security Savings Bank, Williamsburg. At the time of her death, she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, a 20-year member of chapter CN PEO and was a former member of the Marcia Federated club, Williamsburg.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Mary Lynn (Mrs. Jack) Stiles, Cedar Rapids; Lou Ann (Mrs. Tom) Hockaday, Casper, Wyo.; and six grandchildren, Steven, Peggy and Mark Hockaday, Mary Lynn Brown and Steven and Stacie Ann Stiles; her stepmother Ethel (Mrs. Albert) Kuch; two aunts, Martha Kuch, Long Beach, Calif., Mary Kuch, Williamsburg and several cousins.

Her parents preceded her in death.
