HOLD SERVICES FOR MELVIN LIVINGSTON

Funeral services for Melvin C. Livingston, 45, well known Williamsburg business man, who died at the Veterans hospital in Iowa city, Monday, Sept 12, were held Thursday afternoon at Jones funeral home, with Rev. S.H. Roser, pastor of the First United Presbyterian church officiating. Burial was in Oak Hill cemetery.

Music for the service was provided by Mrs. George Meyer and Mrs. Robert Claypool. Pallbearers were John Engel, Frank Holz, Everett Welsh, Milford Grant, Melvin Grant and M.F. Bricker.

Son of Edward and Elizabeth Livingston, he was born Dec. 3, 1914, near Williamsburg.

Mr. Livingston had been engaged in the shoe repair business most of his life, and pursued that vocation at Des Moines, Indianola and North English before coming to Williamsburg.

He was a member of the I.O.O.F. and Rebekah lodges and of the Williamsburg Community club. He was a World War II veteran.

Surviving are five brothers and sisters: Mrs. Iola Weekly of Newhall, Mrs. Leona Klever and Mrs. Joyce Stangland of Williamsburg, Eugene of Burbank, Calif. and Dean of Bellflower, Calif. Three half-sisters and brothers: Mrs. Frances Munson of Cedar Rapids, and Tom and Garth of Williamsburg; three step sisters and brothers: Bruce Freeman of Marengo, Dorothy of Des Moines and Jean Doerhman of Williamsburg.

Those from out of town attending the funeral were from Walker, Newhall, Cedar Rapids, Blairstown, Des Moines, Marengo and Parnell.
