Dale Dean Peska, age 75, of Marengo, died Sunday, May 16, 2010 at his home with his loving family by his side. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Friday, May 21, 2010, St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo with Rev. Douglas Morton officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors. Visitation: 4 to 8 P.M. Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established. Dale is survived by his wife Evelyn; seven children, Thomas Peska of Marengo, Bill Peska (Deb) of Delta, Steve Peska (Lisa Davis Popelka) of Marengo, Lorene Peska (Dave Miller) of Marengo, Joann Sebetka (Wayne) of Atkins, Mary Moore (Tim) of Fairfax and Scott Peska of Marengo; 13 grandchildren, Dominique Peska of California, Troy Peska of Marengo; Jesse Peska (Sandra Rogers) of Sigourney, Stephenie Peska of Marengo, Allison Peska (Brian Moffitt) of Marengo, Virginia Miller of Marengo, Dalandra Peska of Delta, Matthew, Mollie and Marcus Moore of Fairfax, Austin and Kelsey Sebetka of Atkins and Alex Peska of Marengo and a great-grandson, Jeremiah Peska of Sigourney. Also surviving are a brother Dwaine Peska (Carol) of Ladora and many other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers David and Delbert, a grandson Jeremiah Shaull and a step-brother Don Peska. Dale Dean Peska was born December 15, 1934 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the son of Albert Thomas Peska and Hazel Lavonne (See) Peska. He was raised in rural Hartwick, Iowa and graduated from Hartwick High School in 1952. During school he enjoyed playing basketball and baseball and was selected to attend Boys State during his junior year. Dale attended electrician college in New York. He returned home and was employed at the Green Giant Factory in Shellsburg. While working there he was introduced to Evelyn Bearbower. The couple married September 5, 1959 at the Assembly of God Church in Vinton, Iowa. They settled in Chelsea with Dale employed at the lumberyard and also farming. He went to work at Amana Refrigeration in 1965 and the couple then moved to Marengo. He retired in 2002. Dale also served in the U.S. Army from 1957 - 1961, stationed in Germany. Dale enjoyed his years at Amana. He loved gardening, fishing, reading and spending time with his grandchildren and working with his sons. Dale was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and will be truly missed by his family and many friends.
