Gary A. Bunn, Sr., age 55 of Marengo, died Tuesday, May 11, 2010 in Desanzano, Italy following a sudden illness. Funeral Services: 10:30 A.M. Monday, May 24, 2010, Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo with Rev. Katie Z. Dawson officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery with military honors. Visitation: 3 to 7 P.M. Sunday, May 23, 2010 at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo. A memorial fund has been established. He is survived by his son, Gary Bunn, Jr. (fiancee Laura Vannetti) of Aviano, Italy; his daughter Andre’ Holsomback (Bob) of Davenport; three grandchildren, Noble, and Anna Bunn and Jaden Bunn; his mother, Ardis Bunn of Marengo; two brothers, Richard of Victor and Larry of West Amana, two sisters, Linda Schmidt of Williamsburg and Megen Bunn of Altoona. He was preceded in death by his father, his wife Lucy in 2007, a brother David and a brother Kenneth in infancy. Gary Alen Bunn was born October 21, 1954 in Grinnell, Iowa, the son of Noble and Ardis (Wright) Bunn. He graduated from HLV High School, Victor in 1974. Gary served in the U.S. Air Force and the Air National Guard Reserves as a firefighter. He served a total of 23 years in the military, active during both the Vietnam and Gulf War Conflicts. He was employed for 10 years at American ColorGraphics in Marengo and then worked for the City of Marengo. Gary married Lucille “Lucy” Behounek on August 14, 1993 in Marengo. He was an active member of the Marengo American Legion Post #76. Gary spent his free time hunting, fishing, target shooting, camping and traveling. He loved fireworks, coin collecting and cooking for anyone and everyone. And a good joke was always included in his conversations. Gary especially loved to spend time with his family and grandkids. He will be missed by all who were privileged to know him.
