Leona M. McCaw

Funeral services for Leona M. McCaw, 94, Marengo, were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 6, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo.

She died Monday, March 1, 2010, at Rose Haven Nursing Home, Marengo.

The Rev. Douglas Morton officiated at the service.

Burial was in the Marengo Cemetery.

A memorial fund has been established.

Leona Marie McCaw was born Jan. 10, 1916, in Iowa City, the daughter of Wallace and Bessie Pearl Underhill Gant. She graduated from Marengo High School in 1933.

She married Norman McCaw June 30, 1939, in Marengo. She was an active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Marengo, and St. John’s Ladies Aid.

She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, spending time with family and sending cards to friends, family, acquaintances and occasionally, to strangers that she read or heard about.

McCaw is survived by her husband of 70 years, Norman; three sons and their wives, N. James “Jim” McCaw, Blairstown; Dennis “Denny” and Laura McCaw, Tiffin, and Don and Edie McCaw, Dike; one daughter and her husband, Jeanene and Casey Miller, Hudson, Wis.; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Kory and Carol McCaw, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; Chet and Brenda McCaw, Marengo; Vince and Jen McCaw, San Diego, Calif.; Ryan and Pat McCaw, Eldridge; Joel McCaw, Tiffin; Chadd and Tiny McCaw, Ames; Vance and Teppy McCaw, Waterloo, Wis.; Nicole and Jerry Leach, Lindstrom, Minn., and Staci Dietrich, Norfolk, Va.; one step-grandson and his wife, Eric and Dayna Miller, Marlton, N.J.; 15 great-grandchildren, Lindsey Anderson (Yung), Tucson, Ariz.; Amber and Blake McCaw, Marengo; Andrew and Carly McCaw, San Diego, Calif.; Lily and Sydney McCaw, Eldridge; Dayton McCaw, Tiffin; Cameron McCaw, Ames; Rowan and Lane McCaw, Waterloo, Wis.; Addison and Grant Leach, Lindstrom, Minn., and Tayler and Ethan Miller, Marlton, N.J., and two nieces, Marian Tanke and Donna Weisskopf.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Opal.
