George W. Moline, 82, Brooklyn, formerly of Marengo, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 2010, at the Marengo Memorial Hospital following an extended illness.

Per his wishes, there were no services.

George Wilfred Moline was born April 6, 1927, in Fort Madison, the son of Wilfred and Geneva George Moline. He graduated from Fort Madison High School in 1945. He attended Bradley Univesity and the Illinois Institute of Technology, obtaining degrees in commercial artist and mechanical engineering.

He worked as a technical engineer for a variety of employers, including Pullman Railway Manufacturing, Press Steel Cars, W.A. Schaeffer Pen and Co., Amana Refrigeration, Iowa County, French Reneker Engineering, the City of Newton and Van Winkle/Jacob Consulting Engineers.

He had his commercial pilot’s license and was a registered professional race car driver. He was a member of the American Society of Certified Engineering Technicians.

He married Karen Morgan May 1, 1963, in Fort. Madison. The couple later divorced.

He was an avid golfer and held memberships at the Williamsburg and Marengo golf clubs. He enjoyed woodworking, flying planes, attending football games and watching “Law And Order.”

Moline is survived by one son and his wife, David and Nancy Moline, Washington, Ill.; two grandchildren, Jake Moline and Kate Moline, and a special friend, Alberta Smith, LeMars.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Eric, in December 1989.
