Janice Ann Jacobi, 72, of Fond du Lac, passed away at the St. Francis Home on Wednesday, February 10, 2010. She was born in Marengo Iowa on July 22, 1937, a daughter of Carroll and Rita Flanagan Jacobi.

Jan graduated from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, with a Bachelor of Music. For 45 years she was employed by the Fond du Lac Public School System as an elementary band teacher.

Jan was a member of Holy Family Parish and was active in the St. Mary Church Hope Funeral Choir. She belonged to many organizations: Alpha Theta Chapter of the Delta Kappa Gamma, International Honor Society of Women Educators, Fond du Lac Retired Educators, National Education Association, Wisconsin Music Teachers’ Association, Wisconsin Symphonic Band, Oshkosh Symphony Orchestra and the Fond du Lac Symphonic Band. In addition to these organizations, Jan volunteered at Evans School, Chegwin School and with Big Brothers and Sisters.

She is survived by two sisters, Carole Jean (Wendell) Kahler of Jacksonville, TX and Clare (Jack) Carns of Galesburg, IL; nieces and nephews, Mark Carns, Greg (Michelle) Carns, Melinda (Todd) Hull, Joe Kahler, Jeff (Christine) Kahler, Lori (Jerry) McGuire and Kurt Kahler; other relatives and many friends.

Preceding Janice in death are her parents and one niece, Wendi Bowton.

Visitation: Jan’s family will receive relatives and friends at Holy Family Parish, St. Mary Church, 41 E. Merrill Street, Fond du Lac, WI on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 from 4:00 PM until 5:45 PM.

Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Mary Church on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at 6:00 PM. The Rev. Joseph Coerber will preside.

Burial: Graveside services will be held at Calvary Cemetery, Marengo Iowa, at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 19, 2010. A reception will follow at the Doose Café in Marengo Iowa.

Memorials: Memorials are preferred for the Janice Jacobi Memorial Scholarship Fund, Fond du Lac Public School System, 72 W. 9th Street, Fond du Lac, WI 54935.
