Steven Ray Gasper, age 47 of Montezuma, formerly of Brooklyn, died Friday night, February 12, 2010 at his home following a sudden illness. Memorial Service: 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 20, 2010, Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn, Iowa with Rev. John Dodds officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date. The family will receive friends after 9:00 A.M. Saturday, February 20, 2010 at Kloster Funeral Home, Brooklyn. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by a brother Dave Gasper (LuAnne) of Blairstown; a sister Denise Albert (Dave) of Marengo; an aunt Leona Glandon of Williamsburg; an uncle John Gasper (Judy) of Oskaloosa; nephews, Gerald Caligiuri (Cora) of Roland, Daniel Gasper of Blairstown and Robert Gasper (Jenny Daily) of Brooklyn; nieces Melissa Loger (Lance) of Dike, and Carrie Gasper (Nick Krapf) of Cedar Rapids; great nephews Liam Caligiuri, Sawyer and Shayden Loger; great nieces Sierra Loger and Hayden Gasper; Also surviving are many step-nieces, step-nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Carlene Gasper Caligiuri in September 2009, three aunts, Helen Gasper Poe-Rhinehart, Betty Chilcote Visser and Margaret Chilcote Catlin-Krueger.
Steven Ray Gasper was born April 7, 1962 in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Carl Eugene and I. Lucile Chilcote Gasper. He received his education in the Montezuma and Brooklyn schools and graduated from BGM High School in 1980. Steven worked in concrete, construction, and electrical businesses in Texas, Florida and Iowa. He enjoyed playing cribbage and cards, reading, working crossword puzzles, and shooting pool. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Steve had a very soft heart and a great sense of humor. He will be greatly missed by his family and many friends for his fun, love and laughter.
