Margaret “Peggy” M. Griffis, 67, of Macon, MO, passed away Saturday, January 30, 2010, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO. Margaret was born on December 15, 1942, in Williamsburg, IA, the daughter of Duff and Margaret Chandler. She was united in marriage to Mike Griffis on October 25, 1969, in Cedar Rapids, IA. Margaret was a member of the Red Hats, and enjoyed gardening, reading, golfing, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband Mike; two daughters, Lori (Petz) Black of Girard, IL, Stacey (Petz) Gelina of Moberly; two sons, Mickey Griffis of Kirksville, MO, David Griffis and wife Kathi of United States Navy; eight grandsons; two great grandchildren; one brother, Bud Chandler and wife Ellie of Marshaltown, IA; two sisters, Lorelee Brown and husband Claude of Fairfield, IA, Pat Evans and husband Carl of Williamsburg, IA. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, and one grandchild. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2010, at 11 am at the Hutton & McElwain Funeral Home in Macon [incorrect]. Burial will be at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville. Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 am until the time of the service. Family suggests memorial contributions to the Longbranch YMCA or the Macon United Methodist Church.
