Resident of Castro Valley Edward J. Hannon (Ed) died peacefully in his home November 20, 2009. Ed was born in Parnell, Iowa on the family farm. He was the son of Ed and Mabel Rock Hannon. Ed was preceded in death by Garnet Hannon, his wife of over 50 years and his young son Michael Edward Hannon and his siblings, Katherne Hansen, Elizabeth O'Rouke, Paul Hannon, Pete Hannon. He is survived by his wife Gloria Hannon, his daughter Debbie Lynch, son-in-law Billy Lynch, granddaughter Madison Lynch. Son Patrick Hannon, daughter-in-law Gail Hannon, granddaughter Erin Hannon, grandson David Hannon, granddaughter Amanda Hannon Schwab and her husband Jeremy Schwab. Great-grand-daughter Moly, Great-grandson Aiden Schwab, granddaughter Heather Vaughn, Grandson, Sean Vaughn. Ed had numerous nieces and nephews. Ed belonged to American Legion, Post 649. He served in the United States Army. He was a Master Sergeant Major. Served from April 1942 through March 19, 1953. He received the Bronze Star, Combat Infantrymen's Badge for service in Asiatic Pacific Theater. Ed was a member of Transfiguration Church for over 50 years. He was past president of St. Vincent De Paul Society, past president of the 60 -/+ club. Was a religious instructor for many years, was very active in the church as it grew. He will be missed by his family and many friends in Castro Valley and Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held at Transfiguration Catholic Church Saturday November 28, 2009 at 10:00am.
