Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 27, in the Nevenhoven Funeral Home,Brooklyn for Joseph A. McGarry, 44, of Brooklyn, who died Tuesday, Dec 23,1997, in Grinnell Regional Medical Center, Grinell.
Rev. Fr. Joe Rogers, pastor of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Brooklyn, officiated. Angie Hawkins was the organist. Honorary casketbearers were Curt Manatt, Wally Bower, Steve Heishman, Alan Manatt, Barb Mason, Bob Hunter, Dianne Wilkeson, Hon Hawkins, and Jack Brothersen. Burial will be at a later date.
Joseph Albert McGarry, son of William Albert McGarry and Betty J. Bennett McGarry, was born December 14, 1953,in Grinnell. He received is education in the BGM Schools. Joe was employed by Manatt's,where he was a heavy equipment operator. He lived all his life in the Brooklyn-Grinnell area.
There are four children Joe loved very much and they are Amy and Mark Hansen and Amber and Josh Phipps.
He was preceded in death by his father. Surviving him are his mother and stepfather, Betty and Gene Osborn of Brooklyn; a stepson Damon Murty of Tama;two sisters, Teresa Flack and Kathy Hauersperger, and Crystal and Jonathan Osborn; and great nephews, Dakota Flack and Gabe Hauersperger.
A memorial fund has been established.
