Maxine Gail was born June 29, 1930 in Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Andy and Essie Morrison Goodman. She graduated from Millersburg High School in 1948 and married Pat Driscoll January 27, 1951 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Holbrook, Iowa. The family eventually settled in the town of Holbrook with all of their wonderful neighbors and attended church across the street from their house. Maxine was employed as a cook at area restaurants, including Colony Village and 7-Villages. She retired from the University of Iowa in 1992 where she was a cook at Burge Hall for many years. Maxine has enjoyed the past years going to dances, playing her saxophone for community events and entertaining many residents of area nursing homes.
Maxine’s greatest joy was spending time with her loved ones whether on the phone or in person having long conversations. She was a very strong woman that endured good times and bad and always in a very caring and generous way. “We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence.”
