Robert G. Findlay, age 67, of Marengo, died Saturday, April 25, 2009, at his home from complications of cancer. Funeral services: 11:00 A.M. Thursday, April 30, at Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, with Rev. Gerald Rife officiating. Burial will be in the Marengo Cemetery. Friends may call 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, April 29, 2009 at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established.

He is survived by his wife Judy; two sons, Robert (Beth) Findlay, Jr. of Montgomery, Illinois, and Brett (Stephanie) Findlay of Chelsea, Iowa; seven grandchildren, Megan, Chelsea, Jessica, Robert, Elizabeth, Logan, and Nathan; a brother, Harry (Sara) Findlay, Glendale, Arizona, and a sister Pamela Schilling (Steve) of Palatine, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert Grover Findlay was born May 6, 1941 in Ottumwa, Iowa, the son of Robert Burnett Findlay and Martha Elmeda (Hummel) Findlay. He graduated from Hedrick High School in 1959, and married Judith Marie Steele on December 28, 1962 in Eldon, Iowa. He was employed at Amana Refrigeration for 22 years and retired from Lear Corporation with 21 years of service as a process engineer. Robert was a member of the Masonic Hope Lodge #175. He enjoyed bowling, watching Nascar, and was an avid sports fan of the Cubbies and Bears. He especially enjoyed caring for his family and friends. Special moments in his life were the births of his two sons. They were especially close and he would do anything for them.
