Services Held Sunday For Mrs. Sandersfeld

Serves for Mrs. Vernon Sandersfeld, 51, rural Homestead, were at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at St. John's Lutheran church, Homestead. The Rev. Donald A. Lutz officiated.

Mrs. Sandersfeld had been in failing health with cancer the last two months. She died at St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, Thursday, Oct. 27, 1977, where she had been admitted three days before.

Organist Mrs. Ernest Huedepohl accompanied congregational singing, "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" and "Be Still My Soul". Flower attendants were the Waldemar Sandersfelds and the Alfred Trimpes.

Burial was in the church cemetery. Casket bearers were Kenneth Sandersfeld, Harlan Witte, Glenn and Gary Maas, Ronald Vogt and Earl Miller.

Anna Rose Sandersfeld was born Jan. 30, 1926 near Marengo the daughter of Fred C. and Rosa Martha Neumann Mantz. She spent her early years in the area attending school in the Marengo and Amana school districts. She graduated at Amana high school in 1945.

A life-long member of the Lutheran church, Missouri synod, since 1947 she had been a member at St. John's, Homestead.

Her marriage to Vernon C. Sandersfeld took place Sept. 28, 1947 at St. John's Lutheran church, Margeno.

For ten years she was secretary of the Tuesday matinee bowling league, Williamsburg. She was also a past secretary and vice-president of St. John's ladies aid and past secretary of the Lutheran Women's missionary league.

Survivors include her husband and two sons, Steve, Homestead, and David, Evanston, Ill.; two grandchildren, Tonya and Jennifer, daughters of the Steve Sandersfelds, her mother, Mrs. Fred Mantz, Middle, and two brothers, Harly Mantz, Sioux Falls, S.D., and Russell Mantz, Omaha, Nebr.

She was preceded in death by her father, a sister, Mrs. Ray (Marcella) Jeck, Mar. 20, 1977, a daughter, Jane, and a son, Brian in infancy.
